The Guildhall Library Prints and Maps collection is a diverse collection of graphic material relating to the City of London and surrounding areas, 1553-2008; including prints, sketches, drawings, engravings, etchings, panoramas, photographs and lantern slides of various subjects including streets and buildings, Second World War bomb damage, churches, people, City of London Corporation personnel and events including the Lord Mayor, statues and memorials, the Thames, and markets. Records of the Casual Club, 1866-2007, including minutes, papers and correspondence concerning administrative issues, membership cards, members' directories, attendance books, subscription books, papers and correspondence concerning members, lecture material, photographs of members, account books, papers and correspondence relating to accounts, printed histories of the club, meetings' programmes and an engraved gavel.

Three volumes containing a record of members of the London Schools Swimming Association who received awards from the Royal Humane Society. The awards were given for bravery for saving lives from drowning. The books were created by Joseph Wilson who was president of both the English and London Associations.

Records of the Oriental Club charting the development of the club from its foundation in 1824 through to the present day; most areas of the club's history are well documented.

A particularly full set of minute books are held 1824-1978 for Annual General Meetings, the meetings of Trustees, the Committee of Management, the House Committee and various sub-committees. These volumes record both the major developments in club policy as well as the more routine occurrences and issues which affected the club. Together they give a rounded picture of club life.

Membership records are held 1825-2002 as are staff records 1858-1968. Some closure periods apply to both of these series and you are advised to consult the list in full.

For a wideranging series of records outlining the many different facets of club life, the secretary's papers are useful. Although the collection does not contain a complete set of secretary's correspondence, material held includes administrative files on a wide range of issues, letters dealing with complaints, files arranging club events, notices to members and staff, letters regarding honorary membership, and portrait subscription papers

Records relating to financial matters and club property are also held. Material includes deeds, plans and photographs, as well as a number of chairman's files relating to the financial policies used to save the club in the 1950s, to the purchase of Stratford House and to the leasing of the Hanover Square site.

A number of ephemeral items are also held. These include scrapbooks recording the history of the club, photographs, historical documents and printed material. Most noteworthy are a series of nineteenth century photographs of India and Japan and an important contemporary account of the battle with the Rohillas in 1790s, complete with a coloured drawing depicting the deployment of forces on the battlefield.

Records relating to event 'Salkey's Score', commemorating the life of Andrew Salkey. Includes correspondence and minutes for the setting up of the committee. Biographical information on all participants. Drafts and proof copies for the programmes and letterhead. An original poster of Salkey's poem on the underground, A Song for England and copied pages from the comment book by attendees of the symposium.

Records of the Ramblers Association. This collection consists of administrative and publicity material relating to the national and local activities of the association, including minutes, financial material, details of the routes of well-known walks, press cuttings and press releases. It also contains subject files produced by the main Ramblers Association offices on the various campaigns and sites of interest with which the association has been involved. Separate deposits were also received of material generated from the offices of the Director of the association, the Assistant Director of the Access section and the Countryside Secretary of the Southern Area.

This collection consists of working papers, publications, and ephemera relating to the International Year of the Family (1994).

Papers of John Macgregor, consisting of a letter from MacGregor's father, one in verse from Hannah More (1745-1833) and a letterbook concerning the loss of the KENT. Some later items, 1869 to 1883, relate to canoeing. There is also a copy of a letter from MacGregor's father-in-law, Admiral Sir James Crawford Caffin (1812-1883), written to his parents in 1827 after the battle of Navarino.

Records relating to the Geology Club of Kingston College of Technology, later Kingston Polytechnic. The club was established in 1951 and held regular meetings. Collection includes minute books of meetings, registers of attendance, newsletters, photographs and other items.

Collection of publications, documentation and archive material relating to Caribbean Carnival, predominantly focussing on carnival in Trinidad and at London's Notting Hill, and dating from 1956 to 1999. The collection includes books, press cuttings, magazines and journals, extracted articles, programmes from Carnival at Notting Hill and in Trinidad and Tobago, programmes from carnival theatre performances, press releases, newsletters of The Association for a Peoples' Carnival, photographic documentation of Caribbean and diasporic carnivals, costume designs, video recordings, audio recordings of carnival music and interviews with key practitioners, and slides of carnivals, mask making and masquerades.

The archive comprises original garden plans and drawings for 21 clients during the period 1957-1973, when Cane was in his late 70s to early 90s. Plans range from sketchy outlines to fine, detailed layouts, and two items are most likely impressions of the appearance of a finished project. Many plans are labelled ‘Office copy’. The majority of plans are carefully dated and labelled with the client’s name, but in many instances the name or location of the property is not given, though some have been identified through research. Many plans show planting layouts for beds, with names and positions of plants, and some have lists of plants at the edges. The plans reflect the ideas and work of the final 16 years in the career of one of the most sought-after designers of the 20th century.

Four scrapbooks: one entitled 'Quidnunc Cricket Club 1861', one entitled 'R A F G', one is blank. Scrapbooks including correspondence, fixture cards, advertisements, newspaper cuttings, menu cards, invoices, telegrams, rules of the Massachusetts Association of Cricket Clubs. Includes accounts of R A Fitzgerald's tour to North America in 1972, matches played by MCC, I Zingari and Quidnunc Cricket Club, photographs of gentleman playing croquet, articles on lawn tennis, pictures of Germany, drinking songs, plays written by Fitzgerald, rules of the Massachusetts Association of Cricket Clubs.

Cavalier Playing Cards collection, 1886, comprises a bound volume containing a pack of cavalier playing cards, designed in the era of Charles II, forming a complete satire of the Commonwealth, published by the Clarendon Historical Society, with accompanying typescript explanation on each card by Edmund Goldschmid (1885-1886).

The voyage went from London to New Zealand, sighted Antarctica and then on to Madagascar.
