Working records of the Library were produced in the conduct of business. Gate signing-in books were created at a rate of about 1 per month from 1975 to 1998.
The signing in books were deposited in the Archives in 1999.
Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (IALS) Library samples of working records, 1960-1995, comprising: IALS: Notes for Readers, 1960, 1972; sample gate signing-in books, 1975, 1985, 1995; index to foreign periodicals - payments record, 1979-1984.
In 1999 an agreement was made between the IALS Archivist and Librarian to destroy all gate signing on books with the exception of one sample per 10 years.
Further accruals are expected.
Chronological. The bulk of the gate signing-in books were destroyed and three retained as samples.
Printed and published material open. Remaining records open 20 years after last date on file unless otherwise specified.
