Archives of the Madeira wine merchants Cossart, Gordon and Company. They relate both to its domestic business in Madeira and to its international operations, including its relations with customers and agents in the British Isles, continental Europe, the United States, the West Indies and (from c 1780) India and the Far East.

The documents are chiefly unbound business papers (in bundles, some original) and mostly dated between 1754 and 1898, together with a few family papers from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and photocopies of items removed for sale in the late 20th century.

Records of E Dent and Company Limited, clock and watch makers. The archives in this collection are the surviving business records, covering mainly the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. They are primarily the records of the Strand and Royal Exchange shops - only Ms 18026 and 23823-4 relating to M. F. Dent, 1856-1920, appear to have survived.

Records of the Reversionary Interest Society, including out-letter books; deeds of settlement; minute books; annual reports; administrative papers; papers relating to shareholders; financial accounts; actuary's reports; legal papers; property deeds; and notes on the history of the Society.

Records of the University Life Assurance Society, including the Royal Charter and supplemental charters; minute books; share certificates; life policy registers; register of deaths of policyholders; letter books; legal case papers and register of probates.

Records of the Foreign Banks and Securities Houses Association including minutes, correspondence, annual reports, circulars and newsletters. Many of the correspondence files concern matters of general interest to the Association members, such as fraud and money laundering, taxation, liquidity, securities, mergers, foreign exchange and currency, supervision and regulation, banking codes of practice, legislation, and so on.

Access to records less than 30 years old should be sought from the Association of Foreign Banks (contact details may be obtained from staff).

Records of Franklin Wild and Company, accountants, including letter book and financial accounts, including ledgers and cash books.

Records of G Street and Company Limited, bookseller, newsagent and stationer. The earliest records of the firm date from 1865. There are some earlier share certificates, 1825-54, but these appear to have belonged to John Leathwait, presumably a predecessor of Leathwait and Simmons, an advertising agency and newspaper supply firm, which Streets took over in 1918.

There are also a few records of subsidiary companies : EC Advertising Company Limited/G. Street and Co. (Provinces) Limited (Ms 33953); Streets Public Relations Limited (Ms 33954); Lionel Jackson and Partners (Ms 33955) and W Hopwood and Company (Ms 33956).

Records of Gabriel, Wade and English Limited, timber importers and merchants, including annual reports, financial accounts, sales ledgers and daybook, records of timber imported, property deeds, and photographs of tree-felling, logging and timber constructions.

Records of George Barber and Son Limited, printers, consisting of ledgers and cash books, as well as letterbooks. The records are held offsite, and therefore require 24 hours notice for access.

The records of the National Discount Company Limited, discount bankers, comprise minutes, lists of directors and chairmen, accounts, papers and photographs. The majority of the archives date from the latter years of the company's operations; much earlier material was destroyed in accordance with the company's policy on non-current records (see Ms 18199). However, some classes of record survive complete from 1856.

The records of Gerrard and National Limited, discount bankers, comprise accounts, correspondence and papers.

Records of the Aberdeen, Edinburgh and London Trust Limited. The records comprise the memorandum and articles of association, minutes and members' files, which include correspondence, copies of reports and cuttings.

Minutes of the Companhia Telegrafica Platino Brasileira, later the London Platino Brazilian Telegraph Company Limited.

Records of the Eastern and South African Telegraph Company Limited comprising minutes, Directors' annual accounts, balance sheets, general ledgers, cash books and journals.

Europe and Azores Telegraph Company Limited records comprise minutes of Board meetings and Annual General Meetings, Directors' annual reports and accounts, details of balance sheets, a journal, ledgers and a private ledger.

Marseilles, Algiers and Malta Telegraph Company Limited records comprise minutes of board meetings.

River Plate Telegraph Company Limited records comprise minutes of board meetings, including directors' annual reports and accounts and a ledger.

Share Investment Trust records comprise minutes of meetings of the trustees.

Victoria Embankment Properties Limited records comprise minutes of board meetings and of annual general meetings, papers submitted to board meetings, directors' annual reports and accounts, balance sheets, profit and loss accounts, and directors' annual reports, journals, ledgers, cash books, revenue ledgers, tenants accounts and papers concerning the construction of Electra House, Temple Place, Victoria.
