      Records of the Royal Choral Society. The archive is divided into seven sections: administrative records, including a series of individual concert files; financial records; membership records, which include attendance registers and audition files; concert records and programmes; publicity records including posters and newspaper cuttings; files of printed musical scores, arranged by piece, and including programmes for concerts featuring the work; miscellaneous records, which comprise information and programmes relating to other choirs, magazines of the society, or which include articles on the society or choral singing in general, and photographs of choir members, soloists and conductors.

      Highlights of the collection include a comprehensive, although not complete, series of concert programmes from 1873-1985, including the programme for the last concert to be held in the Queen's Hall before its destruction during World War II. There are also manuscript copies of "Eryri" by Alun Hoddinott. This piece was composed for the investiture of the Prince of Wales in 1969 and the collection has a copy both of the original score, for 16 soloists, chorus and orchestra, and the revised version for baritone solo, chorus and orchestra.

      Legal and property records of the Flower family. The records are in the form of bound volumes containing the initial deed followed by schedules which include lists of Philip Flower's property, personal and real, lists of mortgages and copies of accounts kept by trustees. The property records relate to 17 and 18 Dover Street, Piccadilly (knocked together to form one property in 1876) and the legal records comprise deeds of release and indemnity for Cyril Flower.

      Records of the New Road Synagogue, Whitechapel, 1924-1974. With the exception of the two minute books the majority of the records date from the mid 1960s, when J. Lindsay took over as Secretary of the New Road Synagogue. He remained in post until the amalgamation in 1974. The correspondence files are those which were maintained by J. Lindsay. Their contents reflect the wide range of duties undertaken by members of the Synagogue within the Jewish community.

      Records of the Royal Hospitals of Bridewell and Bethlem. About three-quarters of the records are solely of Bridewell Royal Hospital and have been catalogued as Bridewell Royal Hospital; the other quarter are joint records of the Royal Hospitals of Bridewell and Bethlem and have been catalogued under that name. A few records are essentially of Bridewell but have some Bethlem subject content. The joint records are largely constitutional, court, accounts and joint estate records, with some clerk's correspondence relating to both hospitals.

      The archive has been catalogued in one block, regardless of whether individual records are of Bridewell Royal Hospital only or of Bridewell and Bethlem jointly. The archive includes Constitutional records; Minutes; Legal papers; Accounts; Clerk's papers; Prison records; Apprenticeship records; School records; Legacies; Estates records; Bridewell Chapel records; Bridewell Precinct records; and officers' private papers.

      There is a general 30 year closure period. Pupil records have a 100 year closure period.
