Video cassette tapes accumulated by the Association of Anaesthetists of Great Britain and Ireland, relating to the history of anaesthesia in the 20th century. The tapes, made between 1982-2000, with the original films dating from 1916 to 1998, include some compilations, and comprise some black and white and silent material but focus predominantly on the latter part of the period. The subjects cover various anaesthetic drugs, equipment and techniques, and related subjects including midwifery, dentistry, paediatrics, emergency medicine, resuscitation, artificial respiration and intensive care, and the locations include various hospitals, and military situations. A series of oral history interviews feature eminent anaesthetists talking about their work. Some of the videos were made for conferences or training purposes, and some relate to the Association of Anaesthetists itself, including a video of the opening ceremony of no 9 Bedford Square.

Photographic material accumulated by the Association of Anaesthetists of Great Britain and Ireland (AAGBI), relating both to the history of the AAGBI and to the wider history of anaesthesia and associated subjects from 1774 to 1997, largely comprising prints and slides, both colour and black and white, some undated, including some copies. The photographs include a series of portraits of the AAGBI Council, members of staff, and the AAGBI Group of Anaesthetists in Training (GAT) Council, and a large series of photographs used in the AAGBI publication Anaesthesia News. These records contain material dealing with all aspects of County Medical Officers' work. The broad categories are: minutes, 1902-1907 and 1918-1974; correspondence, 1939-1974; plus a few photographs and miscellaneous items, 1905-1972.

Among the papers are several boxes of records generated by Dr Ramage's role as Association of County Medical Officers of Health representative on the Public Health and Housing (subsequently Health and Welfare) Committee of the County Councils Association. These consist of minutes and other circulated papers and subject files of correspondence, etc. As these records are not duplicated in the holdings of the Association of County Councils (formerly the County Councils Association) they have been retained as of considerable interest on local government health matters.

The collection covers material relating to activities of the Association of District Community Physicians from its inception to 1980. They include minutes, lists of members, newsletters and subject files. Many files relate to the role of the District Community Physician in the reorganised NHS. The final year of its existence is not covered; however, some information may be found in the papers of the Society of Medical Officers of Health (SA/SMO) and Association of Area Medical Officers of Health (SA/AMO).

Subject files of the Association of District Councils (ADC), comprising:

• the Council of the ADC's Reviews of the Structure of the ADC, 1987-1989, 1993;
• files of the Environmental Health committee, on AIDS, 1990-1995, Nuclear Power and Nuclear Issues, 1990-1995, and Genetic Manipulation, 1990-1992;
• files of the Housing committee, on Homelessness, 1991-1995;
• files of the Planning committee, on Gypsies, 1990-1995;
• files of the Selection committee, on the Rights of Way Review Committee, 1992-1995, and Common Land, 1990-1992.

Records of the Association of Fellowship Porters. The records were compiled between 1620 and 1895. However they also include a copy of the ordinances of 1566, and copies of acts from 1619. No membership records are available before 1756. The collection also includes rules and regulations; Court minute books; quarterage books and financial accounts.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING ACCESS: These records are stored at the Guildhall Library site rather than the LMA Clerkenwell site. Researchers wishing to access these records should do so at the Guildhall Library Rare Books table. The Library is open Monday to Saturday, 9:30 to 16:45. Researchers will need to have an Archives History Card or a Library Readers Card. An archivist will be available at Guildhall Library on Thursday mornings to answer any queries.

Minute books of the Association of Fresh Meat Wholesalers.

Records of the Association of Greater London Older Women (AGLOW), 1980s - 2012, including minutes and reports; papers and correspondence; newsletters; publications and articles; received publications; audio-visual material; and records relating to the Older Women's Project.

Papers of the Association of Health and Residential Care Officers including minutes, yearbooks, and files on conferences and on general organisational matters. Minutes of the entire organisation survive only from 1915 and there is a large gap for the period 1933-1946, although there are earlier minutes from No 2 and No 4 Inspection Districts. Files relating to the organisation of, and proceedings at, Annual Conferences only go back to 1961.

Records of the Association of Investment Trusts, later the Association of Investment Trust Companies and then the Association of Investment Companies. The records comprise some constitutional documents, minutes of the various committees, annual reports and accounts and supporting papers, financial material, along with many files of correspondence on particular topics, as well as a large serie of files relating to members of the Association. These records are all held off-site and require 24 hours notice for access.

Papers relating to a meeting of the Association of Jewish ex-servicemen to celebrate the 22nd birthday of Kaiser Otto, Vienna, comprising a programme, 20 Nov 1934 and reports on the events.

Papers of Association of Jewish Refugees in Great Britain, 1955-1963, comprise minutes and correspondence of the board of the Association of Jewish Refugees in Great Britain, covering such subjects as restitution claims; social work; the newsletter: AJR Information; cultural activities; membership of the organisation.

AWCS Association of Women Clerks and Secretaries.

Records of associations, usually associations with some connection to the City of London. The collection includes:
minute book of the HS Club, a Whig political club, 1714-1716;
records of several unidentified clubs including a City of London dining club, 1687-1815;
notices regarding the activities of various clubs and societies, 1838 and 1870;
and minutes of the Metropolitan Contractors and Town Carmen, establishing a provident institution, 1864-1876.

Records of the Assurance Educational Council, consisting of an incomplete series of minutes and accounts. The minute books from 1942 onwards have reference numbers which appear to cross refer to supporting papers which are no longer with this collection. The existence of any other classes of records, such as files, is not known.
