Notes by John Dixon on medical matters and on things of personal interest to him such as astrology and photography spanning his entire career, 1848-1903. MS.5191 comprises more formal material, namely certificates and indentures.

Three letters from Dobson to Symington and carbon copies of 4 of Symington's replies to Dobson. Aug-Oct 1938. Topics covered include the book collection of Dobson's late father, Henry Austin Dobson; Dobson senior's correspondence with Edmund Gosse and others; Dobson's intentions to deposit his father's correspondence at Emmanuel College, Cambridge; arrangements for the correspondents to meet and library work.

Autograph and typescript; Dobson's letters bear signatures but the copies of Symington's do not.

The archive consists of a Douie family photograph album and a photocopied pamphlet and notes relating to Douie family history.

The strength of the library is books on 20th Century Balkan history and books on the Second World War, although there are books on a number of other subjects including the history of the Olympic Games and Spear-fishing. There are also a small number of books pre-dating 1900, going back to the 1490s. The vast majority of books are in English, although a small number are in other Western European languages or Serbo-Croat.

The collection comprises correspondence, writings and administrative material relating to the Jenner family, particularly Dr. Edward Jenner (pioneer of smallpox vaccination) and the associated Black and Davies families, 1680-1877.

The material on Edward Jenner includes papers relating to organisations set up in the aftermath of his vaccination discoveries: the National Vaccine Establishment, the Royal Jennerian Society and the London Vaccine Institution.
